On June 14th, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, district officials, and community members celebrated the grand opening of Sycamore & Oak at St. Elizabeth's East. Sol Donum provided the innovative all-in-one battery energy storage system for the pavilion, showcasing our expertise in microgrid solutions and commitment to reliable, renewable energy. This project highlights how Sol Donum delivers smart, sustainable power for modern facilities while supporting community initiatives.

The Sycamore & Oak development is a community-led initiative designed to revitalize the Congress Heights area. At its heart stands the largest free-standing mass timber structure in Washington, D.C., which houses the Interim Retail Village. This hub creates job opportunities for local residents and nurtures retail and food concepts born from the community itself.



The project celebrates the achievements of local Black-owned businesses while transforming the historic former mental health facility into an eco-friendly marketplace. Sycamore & Oak represents a powerful combination of community empowerment, sustainable design, and economic growth for Congress Heights.

Sol Donum provided the initial battery system for the Sycamore & Oak pavilion’s emergency circuits, delivering reliable, efficient, and sustainable power. The system features ultra-high-efficiency power conversion technology from U.S. vendor CE+T America, whose components are designed for minimal raw material usage and full recyclability.



The battery system supplies 3-phase 120V/208V power, delivering 27kW to cover all of the facility’s lighting needs. With fully redundant, hot-swappable inverters weighing just 5 lbs each, the system ensures long-term, uninterrupted power—demonstrating Sol Donum’s commitment to reliable, mission-ready energy solutions.
